What are Dunnage Bags?

Dunnage bags were created to fill the following needs:

  1. Method of dunnaging or bracing a shipment of goods.
  2. A replacement for more expensive rubber air bags.
  3. Versatility and ease of installation.
  4. To fill voids, brace loads, absorb vibrations, better protection of lading than any other form of dunnage.
  5. Solves shipping damage problems.

There are four types of inflatable dunnage bags offered by DSI:

 8 ply

  • For use in rail cars and ships

  • Made of 8 layers of 90 lb. extensible paper with PE coating on the outer layer and a CO-EX poly bladder.

6 ply

  • For use in rail cars, ships, and containers

  • Made of 6 layers of 90 lb. extensible paper with PE coating on the outer layer and a CO-EX poly bladder

4 ply

  • For use in light rail, heavy truck, and containers

  • Made of 4 layers of 90 lb. extensible paper with a CO-EX bladder

2 ply

  • For use in trucks

  • Made of 2 layers of 90 lb. extensible paper with a CO-EX poly bladder

 

Note:   Our extensible paper meets the uniform freight classification and is manufactured per the old Clupak Specs.  The poly bladder is modified polyethylene manufactured air hole free by the co-extrusion process.
